Build in The Midtown
720 W. Emerson St.
Shape the future of Midtown
The City of Paragould Land Bank Commission is selling a single 0.17-acre parcel at 720 W. Emerson Street. The property carries a condemned structure, posted by the City, which will need to be removed within 30 days after closing before anything new goes up.
What you're bidding on is the land itself: a lot on an established street in a historic Midtown neighborhood, ready for a new home built to the standards that are bringing the neighborhood back.
This sale is part of the City's broader effort, through its Land Bank, to clear blighted properties and return Midtown to active, well-kept residential use.
Paragould's Midtown District
Midtown is identified in the City's Discover Paragould 2042 plan as a Core Historic and Legacy neighborhood: established streets, mature shade trees, and sidewalks within walking distance of downtown.
To support reinvestment, the City is adopting the Midtown Overlay District: a set of development standards layered on top of the base zoning for every parcel in the district. They cover everything from porch depth to street trees, so new and redeveloped homes reinforce the character that's already there rather than working against it.
The Paragould Land Bank Commission
The Paragould Land Bank Commission is a city-led initiative created to give vacant, underused, and neglected properties a second life. Commission members work to identify these properties, acquire them, and guide their redevelopment, turning overlooked parcels into assets that support economic growth, stronger neighborhoods, and a better quality of life for the community.
Its focus is on putting idle spaces back to work, whether that's an empty lot, a vacant building, or a property that's fallen into disrepair. By strategically managing these properties and directing them toward new uses like housing and community improvement, the Land Bank opens up opportunities that benefit residents who need them most.
Through partnerships with residents, businesses, and local organizations, the Land Bank Commission helps steer sustainable, community-focused development, making it a driving force in shaping Paragould's future one property at a time.
720 W. Emerson holds a special distinction: it is the first property to be sold under the newly established Midtown Overlay District. The district's design standards were created to guide reinvestment in this Core Historic/Legacy neighborhood. As the inaugural sale in the district, this auction sets an early example of how the Land Bank Commission and the Midtown Overlay standards work together to bring vacant, condemned, and underutilized properties back into productive residential use.
